Vipassana Research Institute is a non-profit body established by SN Goenkaji with the principal aim of conducting scientific research into the sources and applications of the Vipassana Meditation Technique. VRI also works for the Spread of Dhamma and related activities including support services for Vipassana Centers and students.

Donations made to VRI before the end of financial year in March 2026 are eligible for 100% tax deduction benefits under Section 35 (1) (iii) of the Indian Income Tax Act,1961.
